FORECAST ANALYSIS AND EFFECTS
DODONG's circulation mostly covers one-third of the entire South China Sea. The western sections of Luzon shall be affected as the system moves away into the central part of the South China Sea. This include Western Ilocos down to Western La Union, Bataan and Zambales. Heavy rains is expected along these areas and winds of minimal Tropical Depression strength (at least 55 kph) shall occur. Please be alert against flashfloods and landslides. Moderate to rough sea waves are expected along the western seaboards of Luzon as TD DODONG lingers out over the South China Sea. However, as TD DODONG jumps over the PAR, Luzon's weather shall return to normal along with the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao. Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) shall continue to bring in scattered rains in the Philippines.
TD 05W/DODONG shall continue moving NW and shall be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning, 10 June and shall threaten Pratas Island. It is forecast to pass very close to the west of Pratas Island sometime during the night of 10 June and shall sharply turn North to NNE moving inland into Southeastern China. Forecast models indicate a landfall near Shantou and Haojiang, China during the afternoon or early evening of 11 June. Rapid dissipation is expected afterwards.
