PANAHON UPDATE on
Tropical Depression 13W
as of 10 August 2011 @ 10:35am Ph Time



LPA 92W strengthens into a Tropical Depression and was named 13W. It is about 1,555 km ESE of Taipei, Taiwan or 475 km WSW of Iwo To Island and is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility with no signs of stepping in. Wind gusts are estimated at 65 kph. The system is moving northward at 24 kph. Models forecast 13W to undergo minimal intensification as it moves North to NE. On 13 August, 13W is forecast to be some 550 km SSE of Tokyo, Japan or 675 km NNW of Iwo To Island.

This disturbance is not a threat to the Philippines. Intertropical Convergence Zone continues to affect the Philippines bringing FAIR to RAINY weather.
