on Typhoon Nesat/20W/PEDRING

ACTIVE TROPICAL DISTURBANCE

Typhoon NESAT/PEDRING continues to move westward at 31 kph toward Central Luzon (Aurora - Isabela). It is about 510 km ENE of Virac, Catanduanes. Peak wind gusts are estimated at 155 kph.

FORECAST ANALYSIS AND EFFECTS
Typhoon NESAT/20W/PEDRING has maintained its speed for the past few hours. Further intensification is expected due to high sea surface temperature. PEDRING is still a Category 1 Typhoon. Inner rainbands is now starting to lash Northern Samar...will soon reach Catanduanes tonight. Its outer rainbands continue to engulf Bicol, rest of Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Palawan and is now reaching Quezon Province bringing cloudy to rainy periods. Deteriorating condition is expected tonight or tomorrow in Bicol.

PEDRING shall intensify further reaching Category 4 Typhoon Status (gusts of up to 270 kph) prior to landfall in Aurora via Baler Bay by 27 September. It shall cross between Dinalungan and Dipaculao in Aurora and shall move into Quirino just to the south of Nagtipunan. PEDRING shall continue moving West to WNW into Nueva Vizcaya between Kasibu & Dupax del Norte and then moving along Dupax del Sur, Bambang and Aritao and very near Kayapa. The system shall move toward Benguet just to the north of Baguio very near La Trinidad, Tublay and Sablan. PEDRING shall cross La Union very near Burgos and between Naguilian and Bagulin. It shall pass over the vicinity of San Fernando City before moving out into the West Philippine Sea. PEDRING is expected to be out of the PAR by 28 September. By 30 September, PEDRING shall be over the Gulf of Tonkin...about 100 km WNW of Haikou, Hainan.

Residents over the areas mentioned above should brace for this upcoming disturbance and take all necessary precautions. PEDRING is a very dangerous system when it hits land!

The entire Philippines shall be rainy this week due to the storm's very large circulation.

on Tropical Storm Haitang/21W

ACTIVE TROPICAL DISTURBANCE
(Outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility)

Tropical Storm Haitang/21W is located some 620 km SSW of Hongkong. The disturbance is over the Paracel Islands moving NW. By 27 September, it shall make landfall over Laos and dissipate. This system is not a threat to the Philippines.
