Weather Update as of 7am - 09 June

LPA ALERT
The Low Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored in Southern Luzon has moved NW and is now over Bagac, Bataan or about 60 km West of Manila. The system is moving NW at 10 kph. Development has persisted and Japan Meteorological Agency now forecasts this LPA to become a Tropical Depression in several hours. JTWC has also issued a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert on this LPA. However, ECMWF's forecast does not show a visible tropical disturbance circulation. Most likely, this system shall develop into a weak Tropical Depression while over the South China Sea.

Winds in the area are estimated at 40 kph. The LPA's rainclouds are compacted mostly into the Southwestern part of the circulation. This disturbance shall continue to bring rains in the Western sections of Southern Luzon, Mindoro, Palawan including Metro Manila. Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) shall affect the rest of the country with some scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms particularly in the afternoon.

We shall be keeping an eye on this LPA for possible development as it continues to affect our country.
